As I opened my paper today I did my customary Sunday tradition and read the funnies. Some made me chuckle, for instance the Beetle Baily and Dilbert. Some, Hagar the Horrible for instance, made me go "Awww". It was this weeks Buckles that made me go "now that's relevant for my life."
We have now entered a New year. The mindset of many Americans is that we now have the chance for new beginnings. We have this mindset that the snow is fresh, we can start over.
Wrong. This weeks Buckle does a great job of showing us something. We have this past sin in our lives. The belief that we have a new beginning in life does not make it so. Far from it.
The only way to have a true beginning from our past life, our past sins is through the blood of Christ.
"Come, let us discuss this,"
says the LORD.
"Though your sins are like scarlet,
they will be as white as snow;
though they are as red as crimson,
they will be like wool.
-Isaiah 1:18 (CSB)
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9 (CSB)
Let us start this New Year correctly. Let us examine our sin, find it, and seek God for repentance and reformation. Let us not make a New Years resolution, those are made to be broken. Instead let us find God's grace this New Year, and live a life transformed by grace.
This is awesome! :)
